Recommended Vaccinations for Travel to Kenya

  • Hepatitis A
  • Malaria (pill form)
  • Meningitis
  • Rabies*
  • Typhoid
  • Yellow Fever

*Rabies vaccination is typically only recommended for very high-risk travelers, given that it is completely preventable if medical attention is received within 7-10 days of an animal bite.

Some adults may need to receive a booster for some of these diseases:

  • Measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR)
  • Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis)
  • Chickenpox
  • Polio
  • Influenza
Older adults or those with certain medical conditions may also want to ask about being vaccinated for shingles and/or pneumonia.

Make your arrangements to fly out on September 21. There may be 1-2 connecting flights, so making arrangements to get to Nairobi earlier is encouraged when we begin the tour on September 23.

At the very least, you need to get prevention for Malaria, but you can do the pill form of it. You should start taking the pills at least 2 days before traveling.

Yes, there will be local photographers and videographers there to capture photos and videos along the entire trip.

If you have had the COVID vaccination, you need to show proof of it.

If you have not had the COVID vaccination, you will need to have proof of a negative COVID test within 72 hours of your planned departure.

Yes, you must apply for your visitation visa at least 2 weeks prior to your scheduled travel, as Kenya does not allow you to apply for a VISA at the border of entry. Visit https://accounts.ecitizen.go.ke to apply today.

It must not expire within 6 months of your planned travel. If you need to renew your passport, visit https://uspassport-apply.com.
